   | The culmination of this memorial grew out of a ten-year process involving veterans, fundraisers, citizen volunteers, the Foundation Board, the design team and the contractors. Bedford, Virginia was chosen because it had the greatest per capita loss of soldiers on D-Day, June 6, 1944. It was an honor to be selected for the design team. Some of our responsibilities were entrance road layout, education center parking, aesthetic grading and berming, walk layout, lighting and landscaping. | | |
